There are some lovely blocks shown across this thread and I thought to show a used block of ten stamps, each featuring a trio of King Penguins ( Aptenodytes patagonicus) and issued by the Australian Antarctic Territory (AAT) as part of their Antarctic Wildlife series in 1993, Postmarked -6 March 1996, Adelaide, Australia

Here is another block for the thread. It is a recent acquisition of the 1½ d value from the 1954 Tristan da Cunha's Queen Elizabeth II Definitive Issue featuring a Southern Rockhopper (Eudyptes chrysocome) with its vignette shift, affectionately known as "The Kiss",
The stamps were recessed printed by De La Rue as a bicolour with black and reddish purple inks and in sheets of 50. In a normal copy, there is a noticeable gap between the beak and the oval frame depicting Her Majesty's image. However, in this variety, the bird's beak touches the frame and was first described by George T. Guzzio in May/June 2005 Topical Time Journal, the publication of the American Topical Association.
Fast forward fifteen years or so later and given a census conducted earlier this year, the variety may not be as common as Mr. Guzzio's article would suggest. A recent polling of the St. Helena, Ascension and Tristan da Cunha Philatelic Society members and their collections found no more than ~20 copies recorded or less than half a sheet:
If anyone else has or finds a copy of this stamp with its "Kiss" vignette shift, let us add it to the count...
