Thanks for posting the link. I have a few perfins and had wondered what they ment. My questions have been answered. I do not go out of my way looking for Perfins, but I do keep them when I find them.

I tend to think this is personal preference. I usually mount only one side of page as I feel it makes things look less “ cluttered “
i do have some things mounted on both sides for smaller collections. Just make sure a good heavy paper is used. I have made the mistake of using a too light weight paper and it looked terrible.
i do not have the problem of the mounts snagging on opposite pages.
others may have different insights on this.

If they were mine, I would leave as they are and try to find a good home for them. They are many out there who collect fine cancels like that.

A nice arrival today. Not one of the stamps have been cancelled. Will take me few hours to sort through the early Monaco and Liechtenstein stamps that were enclosed. David

Thanks for posting your images and the tips on spotting forgeries. Time to sit down with a good light and the magnifying glass. Eye strain anyone?

I think the colored paper background is really attractive and I might look at using this for a country or two at some point. Here is a sample of my pages...I agree that white or off-white backgrounds aren't as attractive but I have always used black mounts, even for used stamps. I know a lot of people think I'm crazy but I really prefer the look. I too prefer black mounts. I am planning on doing a couple of countries on coloured pages. david

If these are 1859-1864 imperfs they are quite valuable. The 10c has 2 variations. There are a lot of forgeries of these on different paper & colors and later issues (65-75) with cut perfs I bought them because of the imperf and the rouletted versions. I am doing due diligence ,looking for forgeries as well. I may need to invest in a colour guide book the determine colours. I have been looking for these at a good price for years. I was surprised I won the auction.

A recent purchase for a really good price. Sorry for the quality of images. My scanner and computer are not talking together tonight. it may be hard to tell from these images but with the naked eye, I see what appears to me as “ colour variations “. I have a Prifix/Michel 2015 catalog and also Scott. They do not list variations. I am looking for any info for sources/articles that may assist in identifying if these are true variations. Or have they changed due to age? I am ok for text in French and can have German text translated. Thanks for any insight. david dice shaker online

Oh no , more variety to check for. I recall that as a very young collector back in the early 1980’s I was able to see some colour differences. At the time i thought it might have been from the soaking process. I kept many hundreds from those early days. They are stashed in envelopes and are in a box “ somewhere”. When I have time, I will dig out and have a look. I do have a fair amount of mint copies of many of the varieties that I have purchased over the years. They are hiding in a box somewhere as well. I am certain I will have many duplicates in that hoard as well. I plan on going through those first. I am working on creating my own pages for this collection as I have singles, pairs, strips, PB and some booklets.
i think I will need days with more than 24 hours in the,

I purchased a CD of the Steiner pages a few years ago. I did not renew after the year expired to keep online access. The CD contains all the early years of the countries that interest me. I can print what I need at anytime. I use a variety of paper types depending on my mood when printing for a particular country. Have not yet ventured to coloured pages yet. I use three hole binders so my paper is eith pre punched for three hole or I do it myself with other paper stock. I am in the process of trying to create my own pages for certain series of multiple year issues. I prefer to have all these issues in one place as opposed to having them in the year of issue pages. This is my way of organizing things.

I get registered mail often from overseas....as mentioned before somewhere on TSF, I believe once registered mail enters the United States there is no longer any requirement for a signature or other verification of receipt from this end. I could be wrong, but I don't think I've EVER signed for a registered item originating from OUTSIDE the USA. From domestic sources, however, the item must be signed for, and a trip to the post office is often involved if I wasn't at my (business) address. Fortunately I've also never had such a registered incoming item get lost (or pilfered). Even when a package is left right by the front door or a letter in the mail box by the very busy street! That does not seem to be the case here in Canada. Last week I had to go to postal outlet twice sign for registered letters from two different countries. I had nor idea they were coming registered mai as mailing cost Was reasonable. david

Today I finally found time to go through the NS lot from LB1.I thought I had spied something odd about this one before I had put it aside and today after looking at it again I'm still not absolutely sure what it is I'm seeing. If you look closely at the right side of the stamp the shading is blurred and my eyes seem to see a "ghost" figure of the stamp image.... I will dig out my copies and have a close look at mine ans see I see same thing on any of them. I have over a dozen to check. david

I have just put in glassine envelopes and put between pages of heavy books. Or I put in the drying books used for drying after soaking stamps off paper. I weight them down with heavy books. I think your suggestion would work. My only concern would be humidity levels with mint stamps. Just my two cents worth.

Oh, if only I had such a big desk. I do have a great space but desk just not right. I have many shelves and storage space. For bigger projects I use my dining table. When that happens it means a week of meals in front of television.

hrdoktorx,
Thanks for your info and posting of such great images of the stamps. I have been working on my Andorra collection. I am ready to put in album this winter. I had noticed the changes you mentioned. I never really looked into what year they happened. This will help me when trying to identify any new stamps I get.

I have this album . I purchased it a few years ago at a local stamp show for about $20 CAD. It contains used copies of all issues. All enclosed in a clear mount and attached with a hindge of some kind. Stamp condition is ok but pages have brown spots that show through on the.reverse side of the page. I have left as is for now as I fear I might damage the pages by removing the hinged mounts. There must be collectors out there that would be interested in purchasing the whole set of stamps. Though not very heavy as a book, I am sure mailing costs would be pricey.

I think it would be good case of buyer beware. I looked at most of them and seem to be scanned versions. Most are from Russian Federation. I do questention if the seller has permission of the copyright holder, AMOS Publishing to sell these copies. Personally iwould never purchase as I believe in copyrighted material should be protected. Even though the cost to buy these catalogues is prohibitively expensive. David

Thank you so much for this well written and informative post. I have a small hoard of these issues that have been in envelopes for years. I could just never figure out the differences. Now I have a decent resource to consult. I now have the incentive to get working on this. Looking forward to future postings.
