Why does this program want to access my data from websites and control my themes? This has nothing to do with printing pages.

I have a few of these myself. I have them mounted in my US Revenue album on blank pages of course. I always thought it was interesting that there were revenue stamps on the backs of the photos. I guess the good thing is that, we can pretty much date any photos with Revenue Stamps on the back, to these few years.

I managed to update the 9 cent and 15 cent Reserve Litho pages of my OSTS collection to incorporate the stamps sent my by mikeclevenger . All that remains are updates to the 3 cent and 6 cent Reserve pages and I'll be caught up (with the OSTS) until my most recent ebay purchase arrives. Steve, just so you know, I have RE-6c-1B & RE-6c-2Aa in your envelope here, so far. Just so you don't buy those.

Here is a 1906 postcard with the U.S. Marines aboard a U.S. Navy Ship. It is very rare to find pictures of Marines on Postcard that are this is old. This is one of my favorite pieces in my collection.

Thanks Ryan. Unfortunately I have short term memory loss, so I forget a lot of the time. As I read what you wrote above, I remembered some of it. It has been a few years since I was looking for precancels. I have the very old Bureau books and I do believe there is an old price guide also. I will have to look in that cabinet. I started collecting the Cincinnati / Dayton Ohio area, which is what got me started. I grew up in that area, but now I live in Savannah, Ga, so I also buy Savannah precancels. I do remember about the T&T stamps being harder to find and I especially like the older hand cancels, that are arched, from Cincinnati, they just look good. I don't have a lot of those, but I have plenty of Bureau's. So, I think i will just start with the T&T of Ohio & Georgia and see where it takes me. I am running out of Ohio Tax stamps to buy, so I must go back to my other areas to take up the slack. Thanks for the info.
Mike.

I, in an unusual burst of energy, tidied my stamp room. I found a desk!! (like putting all of my US State precancel catalogues into binders, that's the next box of stuff to be properly put in its place). Ryan There are separate catalogs for each state? I had thought about starting on Precancels because I bought a fairly large collection many years ago. They are still just sitting in one of my cabinets, waiting for me to start of course. I have also bought many lots of extra precancels, just in case. LOL. I have the old Federal Precancel book set also. ( Name may not be right though).

Well, between all of us, I think we have seen most of the Ohio Tax Stamps and things that go along with them. Steve posted his collection of the actual stamps. I have posted pictures of all three Ohio Tax Tokens, one of which is the first actual picture of the Podge Y's token. The one thing we have not posted is the Ohio Sales Tax Punch Cards. The Ohio Sales Tax Punch Cards we used to pay the taxes on your purchases just like the tax stamps. Here is my personal collection of the Ohio Sales Tax Punch Cards. Just so you understand, these were used every day and carried in pocket, purses, or your wallet. That is why they don't always look good and the punch holes don't help to preserve the cards. Some of my cards are the only known example with certain store stamps on them. These cards are one of the only collectibles that I know of, where condition doesn't matter at all, most of the time. If you don't have it in your collection, you better buy it no matter what the condition, because you may never see another one like it. The newer ones, from the big chain stores, are easier to find and do cost less. These have gotten more expensive lately, as I can personally attest to. LOL.

Thanks Steve, I have also found 2 more for you lately, RE-6c-1B & RE-6c-2Aa. I still have envelopes that I had went through before I started pulling out what you needed, so I always check everything I look through against your list also. I keep a small glassine marked Steve and just add them as I find them. I'll send after I find a few more.

Well, I got lucky this week on Ebay and got these two stamps for my book. This is the first of this type I have been able to find in the last several years searching Ebay every day. The good part was that it was listed with a bunch of old Top Value Stamp books. The seller had a stapled stack of the Ohio Sales stamps, but was only showing the top stamp, so I asked him for more pictures. When he sent the pictures to me showing these two stamps, I bought it right then for $5. There was also another 3 cent stamp that I needed so it was just a bonus in the deal.
Steve, Unfortunately for you, this is the same one you already have. LOL.

I don't know what everyone used to cut their stamp mounts, but I bought this Fiskars after my dinky little Lighthouse cutter blade fell off. I had a Lighthouse as a kid & it worked great for years. Bought a new one a couple years ago & it lasted less than 1 year. Thanks for the info Pete. I got mine like this in the mail yesterday and it works good for me. The only thing is, the wife saw it and I think I may have to buy her one or she will steal mine now. LOL. Mike.

I use a Signoscope T1. I don't know what I would do without it. It makes even us with less than perfect vision able to see any watermark. I got mine on Ebay a few years back for dirt cheap, because no one else bid on it.

Ya know, I bet if a few more of us stamp collectors volunteered to be merit badge counsellors, I bet those numbers would go up even more. Who knows? Maybe it would even re-kindle youth interest in the hobby, right? ;-)
I just talked to a Scoutmaster I work with with about scouts and stamps. I told him that I have a stack of extra Scout stamps on First Day covers, that I would gladly give to him for the scouts. My idea is to try to get them interested in stamps of course. I was a scout for many years and I have a Stamp Collecting Merit Badge myself. I have a lot of extra albums and such, I could give any of them that are interested, including old Scott Catalogs. I am also giving him a 1960's scout watch, that works perfectly and looks really nice, which I had to put a new leather band on. I have asked him to give this away to the scout who gets the most merit badges starting this week until the end of the year. Maybe I could get him to add in, a clause for that includes that they must get at least one badge in some sort of collecting? Whether it be stamps, coins, or lizards. LOL. It seems that a lot of people who collect things, collect in more than one area. Lets not even go into how many things I collect, that might be a 3 digit number. LOL.
I had already talked to him about being a Merit Badge Counselor, and you have encouraged me to look into this further. To make this easy on me, they hold their meeting across the street from my house, at the Methodist Church. I can literally walk about 100 feet to their meetings. This may be my way of paying back to scouting what it gave to me all those years ago.
Here is the link to the Merit Badge requirements for the stamp collecting merit badge:

I know that Humidity is our enemy. Living in Savannah, Georgia, I have bought several people's, that live in Savannah, collections over the years, and it seems there are always stamps stuck together or to the pages. Not the entire collection, but there are always some. I have all my good mint stamps either mounted in black mounts in my albums, or in in Lighthouse stock books, upright in my cabinet. I have never had any of my stamps stick, but then again, we keep our house at 68 degrees year round and this seems to keep the humidity lower than outside. You have to understand that in Savannah, our summer humidity is always in 90% range and sometimes, our winters are not much better. LOL.

I do not have the Doersam's Clock, just because I haven't felt like buying it yet. There is a decent one on Ebay for $44 and 2 worse ones for $50. I think I may just go buy it today. But, you are not going to believe what I found today. I found an actual image of the Podge Y's token. I was searching Google for any other Doersam,s token out there, found some pictures at a website and then put in Podge Y's on that web page, and up popped the token. It was sold on Ebay in 2012 but the price was blocked without membership, so I don't know what it sold for. I already sent the image to Monte Deane. For those of you who don't know, this token was only known to exist because of a paper rubbing someone made of it many years ago, and there was no actual image of this token, even in the Ohio Tax Stamp book. Here is an actual image:

Well, today was my lucky day on Ebay. I got a "Wheel Cafe" Ohio Tax Token for $50. It seems like a lot, I know, but these are impossible to find. I have been searching Ebay every day for a year or so now for one of these, and this is the first one I have seen for sale. The price is also the lowest I have ever heard of anyone paying for one, so I feel lucky today. It was listed for $7 bid or $50 buy it now, and I just knew if i tried to bid, it would cost me over $50 to get it, so I just paid the price. It isn't a stamp, but it is considered part of the Ohio Tax Collection, so I bought it. Steve wrote about these earlier in this thread.

Hey, well I use a Signoscope. A signascope is simply a very thick piece of Lexan (Plexiglass) with a silvery piece of metal under it. The signascope has a press, that smashes the stamp between the lexan and the metal and has a very bright light shining in from the end. You may be able to make one by stacking 2 -3 pieces of heavy plexiglass together, a piece of metal behind it, and clamp on each side of stamp with the likes of a few pair of c-clamps or even using C clamp vice grips may work better. Then shine a very bright light into the end. This should show any watermark it may have. If you are using thin sheet metal, you will have to put something thick and strong behind it to support the pressure needed to show the watermark. Also, some times less pressure is better on showing some watermarks. Just a thought? Mike.

Hey thanks for this link. I am just getting started on my Germany Collection myself. I have a lot of foreign (non U.S.A.) stamps, but I have never actually tried to work on any country. Thanks, Mike.
