Further confirmation on HALIFAX ISLAND (from an Namibian perspective)

The SWA guano islands were never involved in a guano war, that was all in South America
involving Spain and South American countries. The major publication on the islands is
Lawrence Green’s “At Daybreak for the Isles”.

The guano operation had it headquarters in Luderitz. The Gamtoos ship did a six week turn
around journey. All post was handled through Luderitz. There is a minor Island called Halifax.
The main Island was Possession which had a little settlement of workers but no official postal facility.
Ichaboe also had a settlement for temporary workers. There are a host of other islands, including “Plum Pudding Is”.

There will be no island postmarks unless someone manufactured one like they did for Marion Island. Not much more to say. Kind regards,
