Post here your thoughts, views and offerings on this age-old subject. The golden age of Poster stamp producing and collecting has long gone, but the beauty of such works of art will live forever. It is up to us to preserve that art.
Here are two labels advertising the Hyde Park Hotel in London and are beautifully engraved by Bradbury, Wilkinson & Co. Circa 1930.
An excellent example from Aurora, Illinois showing how quickly the Sanders Drug Store will deliver !!
More to follow.....

Here's one I found sorting through some items. It is for Camp Dewey, a summer camp in New London, Connecticut for the Junior Naval Reserve. This issue pictures Admiral George Dewey (December 26, 1837 – January 16, 1917). The inscription under his photo reads "The Hero of Manilla Bay", a reference to his victory in the Battle of Manilla Bay during the Spanish-American war. This poster stamp was issued around 1917. I haven't been able to find much information about the Jr. Naval Reserve. It looks like it was an organization mainly in New York area for boys and young men aged 12 to 18. They would meet during the year in their respective "battalions". Each year some were rewarded for their good work by a trip to Camp Dewey in the summer.

I had an absolutely gorgeous poster stamp gifted to me in the recent past but I know nothing about it? If I have posted this before I must apologize as my memory isn't quite what it used to be because of the mini-strokes but I am enamored with this stamp. It has pristine original gum and no sign of any hinge. I was hoping you Cindie collectors could maybe help me figure out where this came from or how it was used? It's a beautiful piece of advertisement and it's quite large too. height 3" x width 2" .

A classic "poster stamp", imitating the original poster, to advertise a Tobacco show, at the famous 71st Armory building in NY, where many Philatelic and stamp shows hosted their meetings. (Many Cinderellas indicate the 71st [Infantry Regiment] Armory building as the address) The show would possibly highlight advances in tobacco marketing, products etc, where agents could mix together and form new alliances and business opportunities, worldwide. Current CV circa $5

Block of 1938 US posterstamps. Sadly the block is not holding together. Separation may be imminent. And a 1938 Johnson Outboard Motor. What else would one want for Christmas?

Steve Thanks for posting these and showing them off. It's a great collection. I especially love the "Eaton's Fine Letter Papers". My ignorance is coming out again but what is the difference between a Poster Stamp and a Cinderella? Chuck IE: TinMan

Chuck IE: TinMan Opinion: Both are Cinderellas, the "Poster Stamp" is a particular cinderella that mimics or is a direct reduction of the design of an large advertising "poster" of the time, that were usually pasted on walls, or hung in windows to advertise a particular event.

I'll agree with rod here. Poster stamps are a subset of cinderellas. rod and I don't necessarily always agree on the full extent of what constitutes a "cinderella" (but we don't have to...). Heck, sometimes I don't agree with myself on the definitions.

One doesn't always have to be right, but offer a viewpoint for consideration.

A beautiful Stamp Michael! Super. I regard these as "Printer's Samples" and they appear to have a dual purpose Guess: Paid for by the company shown as the vignette, and an opportunity for Bradbury Wilkinson to show off their craft / expertise.

Regarding the Hong Kong Hotel label, I believe this to be a genuine advertising label which was used on Hotel mailings, Bills etc. A popular way of advertising in those days. Bradbury Wilkinson Dummy or Sample stamps do exist and are very attractive and desirable. One that springs to mind is a perfed or Imperf label showing their early premises at New Malden in Surrey, England.

Kathreiners used old tales/fables to advertise their Malt coffee to great effect.
Even though at least one was rather gruesome !!
Numbered 1-6.

What more appropriate name could there be for a name of a pillow ?
Mr.Van Winkel would have needed a lot of those during his 20-year escape from his nagging wife !!
Not much info. I date it around 1950-60-ish. Lasalles were advertising them in their stores according to the Toledo Blade in 1968.
No matter, if your topical is the bedroom, Geese or Washington Irving, then this is for you !!

More from Mead's [see earlier post]. Trying to research some info and will add snippets tomorrow when it fits together. These poster stamps date from around 1915-30 at a guess. Mead's also produced very fine postcards with their name imprinted on the design. They are not cheap, the ones I have seen on eBay. Still trying to connect this company with Mead's papers. Maybe I should get some sleep !!

Yes frog ! Given the location, I thought you might add a post here. Oddly enough, Irving had never been to the USA before when he wrote the book. He must have done some research !
