Saw this on eBay and had to grab it, complete six volume set of Jose Alberto Celis Cano's Catalogo Especializado de Los Sellos Postales De Mexico 1856-1996.While Follansbee has replaced Cano as catalogue of record for pre-1917 Mexico, Cano remains that for post-civil War Mexico, including all those challenging definitive issues like the Archaeology, Exporta, and Tourism series  |

I recently wrote about the APS' discounted book sale here and of my purchase of Theron J. Wierenga's work United States Incoming Steamship Mail: 1847-1875 (second Edition) for $12 postpaid. The publication was sent via Media Mail on October 18th and arrived in today's mail. The book is still in its original shrinkwrap and may remain that way for awhile as I'm finding it increasingly difficult to make time for stamp-related activitiy.  |

What I collect: I collect world wide up to 1965 with several specialty albums added due to volume of material I have acquired. At this point I am focused on Canada and British America. I am always on the lookout for stamps and covers with postmarks from communities in Queens County, Nova Scotia. I do list various goods including stamps occasionally on eBay as hdm50

My 2024 UNITRADE Catalogue arrived yesterday. This might possibly be the last year of issue? A sad situation with no clear fix 
It has truly reached the maximum size for a coil binding...

I am actually updating my 2000 catalogue in case it is the last. I do not collect any Canadian newer than the 1990’s so never felt the need till now. I expect I will see some updates and of course more current pricing. The good news is that I am able to pick up my copy here n Toronto so I save on shipping. I should have mine in my hands on Thursday. |

I have to say, I agree with both things you've said here! I'm very saddened by the fact that Unitrade is up for sale and the state of the catalogue is in flux, and also, this this quite possibly the thickest coil bound book I think I've ever seen... and I've worked in libraries where we were working to bind some things with coils! It's an impressive feat no doubt! I received my copy on the 1st, I won't add another picture here, but I will say, I now have a redundant 2022 copy and it's free to any member in the continental USA, just pay shipping and it's yours! I may have moved house, but I do want to clear up a little space on my shelves for a lot I just won in the most recent Sparks auction... |

New addition to the library direct from Yerevan    Absolutely wonderful illustrations to work out the various overprint types from the 1918-1923 era that are such a headache to deal with and which none of the Big 4 catalogues really cover very well. |

Just came across this compilation from an auction lot that I recently acquired. It lists the US precancel stamps that were dated as a control measure. I do like precancels, so this will be making it to my shelf. Was wondering if anyone knows about the Handstamp Dated Control Study Group and if the 1987 volume was ever finished.   |

received today- mainly to update from my 1995 issue. With respect6 tot he 1890 issues, Michel has reduce the perforation varieties to 12 (onloy two mixed perf 13x12 1/2 and 13 x 13 1/2 for miche-zähnugen (mixed serrations ) which I suppose is the catch-all for the 10 mixed perfs listed in the 1995 Michel Speziel. For another perspective Pfalz-Richter 1867 - 1906 lists 24 different, but as @karlem told me, most pf the mixed perfs are beyond the reach of us mortals. Now a total of 4 specialized references for Austria... I should be set I may reduce my pages for perf varieties, and maybe now add paper types. (but not today)  |

My holiday reading is sorted, thanks to the new TSF newsletter and an exceptional find in a local 'free little library' on the way to the grocery store this afternoon! Anna Banana is a contemporary artist with a strong Victoria connection, although she's performed and exhibited around the world. I know her from her "mail art" pieces, which is why I'm so excited to have this in my collection: back cover, with more stamp art examples: And the contents:

My holiday reading is sorted, thanks to the new TSF newsletter and an exceptional find in a local 'free little library' on the way to the grocery store this afternoon! Anna Banana is a contemporary artist with a strong Victoria connection, although she's performed and exhibited around the world. I know her from her "mail art" pieces, which is why I'm so excited to have this in my collection: I have a very foggy memory, of emailing with an Anna Banana My emails don't show any record however, (It was a long time ago) Would this Cinderella sheet (Banana Productions Vancouver) have any relevance to her art?  (Not listed in Bird Bear Press, Cinderella Catalogue)  |

rod222 I will dig into it as I read the book and see if anything comes up. But I suspect very strongly that it's the same person. From the forward, she started in Victoria in the 1970s, spent time in San Francisco and then came back to Canada. It would make perfect sense if she was in Vancouver in the 90's. And I want it to be true because that would be an amazing connection if it were true! Mark PS - I was at a studio open house last year near my apartment that had an older artist showing off some mail art. I can't wait to go back to their next open house to see if there might be a connection with people / events in the Anna Banana book. The book was published by the Art Gallery of Victoria (I've got as far as the inside cover) so I suspect there might be. My interest in Cinderellas leans towards mail art so I've chuffed to have found this book.

The work of Tchilinghirian and Stephen about Russian Stamps used abroad should be availlable trought the Rossica Society www.rossica.org together with other interesting references about russian philately. Impressive the library of djcmh, which makes me wonder to prepare a list of my library, even if so far away... Anyway, that's the last addition. Podrecznik specjalizowany Polskich Znaczkow Pocztowych tom II/III/IV, which cover the period from 1963 tp 2005... Almost the double of pages respect to the previous catalog which cover almost the double of years...

A huge 2 volume set for "Letter Receivers of London 1652 to 1857: A History of their offices and handstamps within the General, Penny and Twopenny Posts" by Hugh Feldman. Published by The Stuart Rossiter Trust Fund and The Postal History Society, 1998. Only £35 plus postage. A Receiving House is described as 'the forerunner of what we know today as the sub post office located within the high street newsagent and confectioner , or in the village general store, operating within the structure of Post Office Counters'.
