For those interested: (sorry - the pages are a bit out of order!) All referring to my Turkey in Asia pages above (page 2 of the thread): all the stamps on pages 35, 36, and the 1st 2 stamps on page 37 - these are all handstamped overprints. The last 3 stamps on page 37, and all of pages 38-39 - these are typographic overprints. But don't want to leave out the rest - some of my favorites!

A few bits and pieces. Had a win, I think, from an odd lot of Turkey ($9 + shipping) I managed a book CV > $240 To me it's not the money, but the luck to source this type of material on my budget.I hope I have this correct. First 1918 "obelisk" (Tatty example, void of gum) Mint CV $100 No gum $8 Sc# 550 2 Newspaper Stamps Mint and Used CV $70 each $1 mint 50c used Sc#P152 Sc#P132 six pointed star over 5 pointed star. (incorrectly mounted) Nice Bagdad Postmark (Mesopotamia)

Sorry in advance Rod - going to rain on your parade a bit...
The 1918 Obelisk 'money' stamp is very cool. Great/important issues to have. There are 2 - you need to get #549 next. Read the note after the listings in Scott - can't tell whether yours is CV $100 or $8 - you'll have to examine the back - but a key stamp to have!!
Awesome Bagdad postmark! (Collecting postmarks is a whole different universe - with lots of avid collectors!) (I'm saving that area for retirement projects!)
Your newspaper stamps are misidentified. They are P132. 6-pointed star overprint vs 5-pointed star overprint...(sorry!)

Right, thanks Michael, (That's where I read about stamps used as currency!) No hint of gum, back to CV $8 (I'll adjust my post) Looking at the others... Indeed P132's, looks so obvious now Appreciate your correction, comforting to note they are finally in the right place. Thumbs up.

Turkey Postmarks Note: The Bandirma (purple) and Tesvikiye CDS' have curious date fonts, looks similar to cash register fonts.

Re-mounted the Newspaper Stamp P132 correctly. Aboard is a teasing Postmark My Guess from the War Ministry in Constantinople. (They had a Post Office?) "Place du Ministere de la Guerre" (Seraskierat)

...You're a legend Steve... No credit is due me. Cases such as this are where I find the search function on the digitized 2009 Scott catalog to be worth the cost of purchase. Enter the design number and value in the search box (in this case "A7 20pa") and you are taken to every instance of that combination. I've looked at a sample of Scott's most recent digitized offerings and that functionality appears to remain.

tomiseksjOne can always learn something, It never occurred to me to pair the value with the Scott design, I have been searching via design only. I saw the "J" occurence, and assumed (incorrectly) a differing stamp. So, yes there is appreciation. My Scott search will be a lot less frustrating in the future.
